ABSTRACT:
Hardware is a commodity, and value is shifting to software and services -- this thesis is widely accepted and has been seen within the IT market for a number of years. Most mature hardware markets expect to experience low single-digit revenue growth, if not decline, in the coming years. Disk storage systems are not an exception. Still, the market dynamics are far from boring--there are many forces colliding with each other and driving certain segments of the market up while pressuring others down.
