ABSTRACT:
Ocarina Networks has recently entered the market with a product, Ocarina Optimizer and Reader, that addresses the need to store data more efficiently. Ocarina's technology and approach is not about deduplication or compression, which will be explained in this profile.
Ocarina technology is vendor neutral and can offer significant storage optimization for file-based storage. File system vendors, NAS vendors, as well as storage hardware and server vendors could differentiate their offering by leveraging Ocarina to deliver a smaller data footprint resulting in lower power consumption, smaller data center footprint and an overall cost reduction.
